However, as H&HN’s Paul Barr reported last month, The Institute of Medicine issued a lengthy report about improving care and individual autonomy regarding end-of-life decisions, and Atul Gawande, renowned author and cancer surgeon, recently released his book “Being Mortal,” which has shed much needed light on the subject.
