C.A.R.E. Channel Featured in Patient-Empowered Room

HCD-Conference-logoNovember 3, 2012 – The C.A.R.E. Channel (Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment) is featured in a full-scale patient room model at this week’s HEALTHCARE DESIGN conference in Phoenix, AZ.

Inspired by a design competition in which teams were invited to submit ideas for empowering patients to achieve desired outcomes by facilitating more control over the care environment, the model room is part of a Patient Simulation Lab workshop for conference attendees.

“We are thrilled to be part of this model room making its debut at the conference,” said Susan Mazer, Ph.D., President and CEO of Healing HealthCare Systems. ”By tuning to The C.A.R.E. Channel instead of commercial television, patients and caregivers are empowered to use the television as a therapeutic tool, which supports a total healing environment.”

The workshop will allow attendees to participate in exercises that present realistic patient scenarios to demonstrate the importance of patient-centered design.  The environment in which the workshop is being delivered is built completely by volunteers and sponsors.  The full scale model includes artwork, furniture, flooring, fixtures, lighting, plumbing, equipment, audio/visual communications, and sound masking.
