Introducing C.A.R.E. Channel Artist Dan Tudor

Life changed for me when I became a C.A.R.E. Channel artist in 2004. I had shared my original solo piano album with my good friend, world renowned saxophonist Ernie Watts.

Just after receiving my new CD, Ernie happened to meet C.A.R.E. Channel Co-founders Dallas Smith and Susan Mazer while performing in Reno. Dallas mentioned they were searching for new recording artists who might contribute original compositions for The C.A.R.E. Channel, and Ernie immediately suggested my CD entitled “Joyful Dreams .”

I felt a spiritual connection with Dallas and Susan from our first conversation. Being chosen as a C.A.R.E. Channel artist was and is still a great honor.

Some examples of how this experience has changed my life:

While performing solo piano at a lovely resort on Sanibel Island, Florida, the manager mentioned traveling once a month to a major leukemia center in Texas to donate blood for her dear brother. I told her that my music was being performed at the hospital. I gifted my CD to her, hoping that she might recognize my music while helping her brother’s treatments.

Upon her return to Sanibel, she said “Dan! I’ve been listening to your beautiful music for four years at the Leukemia Research & Treatment Center.” Wow! I still get a chill when remembering that moment.

Recently, one of my good friends underwent a surgical procedure in Minnesota. In the recovery room, there was a large screen television, displaying beautiful scenery: meadows, forests, streams, and a lovely blue sky with puffy white clouds.

Suddenly, she heard my soothing “Joyful Dreams” in the background. She emailed me that week, describing her amazing sense of calm and relaxation while in the recovery room.

My reaction to this experience was, “This is what I do!” This is what all the recording artists on The C.A.R.E. Channel do! We create an atmosphere to aide healing in times of great stress for patients at hospitals around the country. It really hits home, when as an artist, you know a friend who personally experienced what we do at a hospital that has The C.A.R.E. Channel.

The C.A.R.E. Channel gives me a deep sense of honor and satisfaction as a professional musician, living my life’s dream of sharing my original music with patients in hospitals nationwide and worldwide. Yes! My life changed when I became a C.A.R.E. Channel artist. I feel truly blessed and joyful to create music to be experienced by thousands of patients.
