HHS Donates 6 C.A.R.E. Select Units to Local Clinic

Screen Shot 2017-01-30 at 10.36.03 AMJanuary 30, 2017 — Healing HealthCare Systems’ founders Susan E. Mazer and Dallas Smith believe in giving back to their community.  That’s why they didn’t hesitate when Northern Nevada HOPES, a clinic that serves at-risk and low-income patients in Reno, contacted them about getting C.A.R.E. Programming in its new facility.

“Our C.A.R.E. Select product was developed specifically for waiting areas in clinics or doctor’s and dentist’s offices,” says Haydn Bertelson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Healing HealthCare Systems. “The programming comes on a hard drive with a media player that can easily be plugged into individual televisions. It is perfect for HOPES.”

Initially, only one C.A.R.E. Select unit was donated to HOPES. But the staff and patients liked it so much that they asked to get five more units.  C.A.R.E. Programming is now playing in two main adult waiting areas, two administrative waiting areas, the pharmacy waiting area, and administrative office.

According to Rachel Tatro, Director of Development and Marketing at HOPES, they wanted to find an alternative to commercial television or movies, which are often violent and can trigger negative behaviors in unstable patients. “We get many comments about the programming,” she said. “People tell us how soothing and beautiful it is and that it makes them feel at ease.”

Teresa Mooney, Chief Human Resources Officer for HOPES, feels that C.A.R.E. Programming in her workplace has helped her to focus on mindfulness and practice gratitude. “Besides setting a lovely tone of well-being and relaxation in our waiting areas, it provides me with a daily gentle reminder to reconnect with the beauty of the outdoors and within myself,” she stated.
