Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

June 1 - June 30

Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month is an opportunity to join the global conversation about the brain, Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementia. Everyone is at risk to develop Alzheimer’s, a fatal disease that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed. During the month of June, the Alzheimer’s Association asks people around the world to “go purple” and fight Alzheimer’s disease.

Following a traumatic event, many people have painful memories that will fade over time. For others, however, the memories, thoughts, and feelings don’t go away — even months or years later. If stress reactions do not improve over time and they disrupt everyday life, it is important to seek help to determine if post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is present. The purpose of PTSD Awareness Month is to raise public awareness of PTSD and effective treatments.

Every year, more than 1.5 million patients receive care from hospices in the United States. Hospice and palliative care programs provide pain management, symptom control, psychosocial support, and spiritual care to patients and their families who are facing a serious or life-limiting illness.
