C.A.R.E. Channel With Guided Imagery Introduced
C.A.R.E. Channel features guided relaxation that helps reduce stress
July 14, 2004 The Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment® (C.A.R.E.) Channel, environmental programming for hospital television from Healing HealthCare Systems that promotes and enhances recovery, is now available with guided imagery.
Expanding on the benefits of The C.A.R.E. Channel, The C.A.R.E. Channel with Guided Imagery uses patients active imagination to bring about responses in their bodies that can accelerate the healing process.
Studies have shown that patients who use guided imagery prior to or during medical or surgical procedures experience significantly decreased anxiety and stress, says Susan Mazer, President of Healing HealthCare Systems. Guided imagery can reduce the amount of pain medication required, thus reducing side effects and decreasing recovery time.
A supplement to The C.A.R.E. Channel, The C.A.R.E. Channel with Guided Imagery is a unique 24-hour channel that provides varied guided imagery exercises, delivered in English and Spanish by both male and female speakers. Narrated meditations are scheduled at the top of each hour, followed by 45 minutes of C.A.R.E. Channel programming to allow patients to remain in the relaxed state.
Guided imagery, as a clinical tool, is not subliminal, but is very direct in its appeal to the listener, explains Mazer. The C.A.R.E. Channel with Guided Imagery is effective across ethnic, religious, and cultural boundaries.
All C.A.R.E. programming is provided in a high-quality digital MPEG-2 format, compatible with hospital CCTV systems and with many video-on-demand systems. Updates are provided through swappable hard-drives and require no manual attention.
The C.A.R.E. Channel is currently used by hospitals in 41 states nationwide. C.A.R.E. programming is sold directly by Healing HealthCare Systems, and is also available through TeleHealth Services, SVI Systems, and TVR Communications.
Founded in 1992, Healing HealthCare Systems produces The C.A.R.E. Channel and other products and services that assist healthcare organizations in creating and sustaining clinical environments that are directly supportive of healing and recovery.
