What’s nu? Nothing but everything!

In my family, the question of “What’s nu?” was always asked with a twinkle in the eye and concern in the heart. It was, at once, equivalent to the genereic “How are you?” but with a direct “need to know” edge. And so, in January of 2009, it feels to me that the “What’s nu?” needs to not look like “What’s old?” nor be asked lightly. While much occurred last year that I would hope would never recur, I am also motivated by the ways in which I have seen and partipated in renewal of hope through action.

The election of Barack Obama was evidence that the human spirit is ignited by hope; Regardless of political bias, the outpouring of support and follow through across the US, spilling around the globe, came not from deep scrutiny of strategies or vetting of policies alone Rather, it came from a topical overview and deep inspiration from the collective nature of community. I am inspired from this and am using it== the vision, the words, and the day-to-day evidence– as a tonic for my continuing concerns for the state of the world.

I am most interested in how you are holding the todays and the futures together amidst the stress of the now. We each have what helps us do our work everyday…

What’s nu? keeping it all simple and trying to stay distant from the complexity that humans add to the world around us.

I believe we can intentionally live in hope and the ‘now’ by living in the spirit rather than the flesh; being loving, gentle, kind, self-controlled, etc. Actually, ‘Being’ those things that there is no law against. This is I believe is true freedom…..this couple with faith in a loving God.
